Bugzilla – Bug 276
<meta http-equiv="Content-Type" content="text/html; charset=…"> results in errors
Last modified: 2010-11-22 11:57:21 CET
Look at this document [1] – it seems perfectly valid to me. However, I just found that html5.validator.nu does not seem to parse the “legacy†character encoding notation (I do not actually consider it “legacy†[2, 3]) correctly any more. [4] It says “Error: Unsupported character encoding name: text/. Will continue sniffing.†and “Error: Internal encoding declaration named an unsupported chararacter encoding text/.†[1] <http://misc.david-muschiol.de/tests/charset1.html> [2] <http://meiert.com/en/blog/20080708/you-can-use-html-5/#comment-74096> [3] <http://twitter.com/j9t/statuses/879279288> [4] <http://html5.validator.nu/?doc=http%3A%2F%2Fmisc.david-muschiol.de%2Ftests%2Fcharset1.html&showsource=yes>
