as well as the script both quote the filename, but that isn't proper GNU error message format, as described here:

I was trying to use the script as my Emacs compile command, and needed to make following modification to make it work properly:

  for line in response:
    # sys.stdout.write(quotedName)

The file name is quoted, because it can be a full URI, and full URIs contain a colon.

A user of raised the issue with GNU and the response from the GNU project was that they suggested using C string-like quoting, so I implemented quoting.

Been a long time and no plans to change this behavior. But if you still want it changed, please re-open.
