Bugzilla – Bug 767
a/@ping treated as valid
Last modified: 2013-07-12 05:07:29 CEST
Validator.nu appears to accept the "ping" attribute of <a> although it is not defined by HTML5.
It is in WHATWG HTML.
My understanding is that validator.nu is supposed to check for conforming HTML5 documents as per the W3C spec. Henri, Mike, could you please clarify?

Validator.nu has always tried to track the WHATWG spec (with varying levels of success as far as accuracy goes). I realize that it's inconsistent to treat ping and <device> differently. Maybe they should both be in some kind of whatwg-only.rnc module that one could turn off in the complex interface.

I didn't know that... > I realize that it's inconsistent to treat ping and <device> differently. I made a change quite a while back that disallows @ping in the W3C service.
